knocking sound

i started the car today, and noticed a kncoking sound from the head, what could this be?

its didnt start at first, but eventually it started, but it then it died, started it again, and the power was really weak, as if it wanted to die, but didn't because there was a little life in it, it was revving up, then revving down!

novas do this sometimes when they warm up. Make sure its topped up with oil they often knock when they are low

its got plenty of oil, it hasnt been started for about two weeks!

i noticed a wierd noice though before i had the crash, i know the alternator is making a whirly noice, but i think that just needs tightening!

how do i stop this tapping, just do an oil change? or is it more of a fault?

get a bottle of engine oil system treatment stuff bung that in it and do wot it tells u then new oil and filter if it still does it it could b ur oil pick up pipe blocked if so take the sump off and clean it out thats wot i had to do on me fiv door ne way
