Which is better and why!

Looking to buy a nova in a few months and was wondering which of the two you all prefer and how they compare to each other!

Thanks for any help =)

GSI couldn't tell you why(probably because better MK2 dash etc),
but i love the old skool GTEs.
But GSI may still have a CAT on etc, whereas the GTE didn't need one.
So i ain't really give you an answer.LOL

gtes have leccy windas too,

get a gte and put a gsi interior in it, best of both worlds then.

Must admit I like gsi's used to have one but I also like the look of my gte and its got the gsi black dash, I think its the black interior and the front bumper on gsi's that make them nice but there's nothing like a mint looking old gte. :D

How do they compare to each other performance wise and are they both the same insurance group?

they are around the same hardly anything between them, its something like .1 second faster on 0-60 and the insurance is the same group but at the highest stage for the gsi, group 11 i think.

Kinda leaning towards the GSI i think at the moment, prefer the newer style it has.

had a 1.2expression for the last 5 years and its now got some kind of electrical fault where the dash lights stay on even when you take the key out sometimes, which drains the battery. plus the rear arches are starting to rust.

Time to upgrade i think, insurance is only like 350 fully comp at 24 on a GSI, which isnt bad ;)

your dash will be the ignition switch being buggered. i paid about ?5 for a new one from a local motor factors. you just had to tap my dash and it would light up lol

yeah its a total pain in the arse lol, but its the first time its ever had anything wrong with it in 5 years so its not done to badly =D

Rusty Arches are a pain in the arse tho, esp since ive just not bothered to sort them out so its pretty bad now =p

if you take the Cat off the GSI will it be over 100bhp? i.e. faster than the GTE?

Is the GSI engine more restricted than the GTE?

i prefer GTE's definately.

i love the mk1 SR/GTE's..IMO the mk2 front end is too round for the boxyish looks of the nova, so the mk1 front goes well. (even though i have had two mk2's Lol)

i also agree with some others when they say take best of both worlds..i.e. the GSI interior into the GTE shell :D

gsi engine is generall better, both have 100 brake but the gsi engine is more restricted with the cat so has more potential, and arguably has a better ecu, but thats jus being picky
