Yes, it all depends how much cash you want to spend.... Think of a number then double it. B+ is a good place to start but don't forget the basics, make sure your bottom end is up too.

The engine is sound, it had a rebuild 7,000 miles ago. Its got the usual full scorpion and the k/n filter. Im prepared to spend quite a bit on it. Is the B+ head an exchange or purchace?

How much did you pay for your rebuild? what did you get done?

Take a look at the sticky topic at the top of the technical section...

i run a short stroke 1600 (detroked from a 2.0L 16V).
built by a guy here in NI.

he says rough price for a std rebuild is about ?1500 to do it right.

The engine was a low mileage one owened by an old fart, it had done 48k from new. The clutch was fucked so i thought id take it out and rip it apart anyway. It had new rings, brg shells, crank brgs + seals, head was rebuilt :new lifters, cam + followers, steam seals, valves, and the block honed (i think thats it, cant remember). Its taken 7k of abuse. It prolly cost me about ?300 ish as i did it all wiv a mate who owns a garage.
