Here is the current situation of my original in car "entertainment system"....

Yep, nothing what so ever, no radio, no casette etc. etc.

Just bought a pretty shite CD player;

CD-R/CD-RW/MP3 Compatible
RDS Version
Single CD Player
MAX 4 x 45 Watts Power output
Preset Equilizer
2 CH RCA Line Out
ISO Connector

Aswell as some other bits inc. a radio - obviously! Currently the car has no speakers what so ever although I have got a set of 300w 6x9's to put on the parcel shelf. Well you've seen the current state of the wiring and have guessed i have no aerial - although i am not overly fussed about the radio working.

Quite simply; what else do i need to buy to able to get this all connected? Facia ring? No idea what else??????

AND more importantly;

HOW do i do it?

REALLY need help on this, really appreciate any help what so ever! Thanks guys!

u need 2 get
>a constant live 4om battery (fused)
>a switched live so de h/u only comes on wit de ignition, get this from de fuse box
>an illumination signal, so the h/u lights up wen ur headlamps r on, get this 4om the dipbeam switch
>earth to chassi

wire these into an iso to car wiring adaptor(iso block wit empty wires commin out bac)

then all u need to do is put ur speakers into the iso adaptor, then plug the iso on ur radio, into the iso in ur car! now ur car will have an iso connection shud u change head units

go to a expert, thts what i would do. all that wiring looks bloody scary to me

i fit my own head units and that is a matter of unplug and reconect and maybe purchase a harness adaptor as the case has been so far.

plug and play is the way i like it and no scary wiring

So on a scale of 1 to 10 how hard is this, 10 being bloody difficult - bare in mind that i have never done anything like this before! :(

How do i wire the 6 x 9's up to the HU?

Would a direct wire to the battery using an in line fuse be easier to do rather than using the fuse box?

Cheers guys

It's easy matey, dont be daunted by all the wires, ignore the ones you see and start afresh. Where are you from, it's my speciality ;)

I need another ISO Connector right guys? Is there anything specific one i should be looking for or are they just universal?

And is my HU powerful enough for the 6x9's? I know nothing about CD Tuners/Speakers/Watts etc

Most car makers use the standard iso connection these days so all cd players will plug and play.
Some dont and will kill you cd player if not carefull, go to your audio shop and ask them for an iso adapter that will fit your nova.
My brothers Lupo just wires straight in but some people automaticly think their car will simply plug and play till it starts smokeing.
Also dont think that becouse a wire is red that its live ? becouse you always get a have a go hero that uses a bit of spare wire and bang cd player dead.
Get a multi metre and touch black to earth and then test the red wire to see if you have a permanent feed, then test the wire for the ignition, and when you think you have the ignition wire ? turn off the ignition and see if the needle falls to zero, if it dose? then your sorted.
The 6/9 will be ok off the headunit but they would run better from the amp, the 6,9 are 300 watts and could with an amp that will push some serious power into them to run properly.
But for now the 6,9 will run ok from the head till you get an amp or comps.

you need to go to an ICE shop and get a male ISO connector. This should come with about 4 inches of wiring. Plug this into your harness that comes from your nice shiney new stereo and trace the wires through (as the wires on the new plug might not lead to same coloured wires on stereo wiring). Now look in your book that you got with stereo (if you got one) and find out which wires on your new loom goes where. Easiest way to wire up is:
-Permanent live from clock (Red)
-Ignition Live from anywhere (Black)
-Earth (Bulkhead)
-Illumination (Not required but take it from clock, not sure on colour but it is the one that goes to your bulb in clock, not brown)
-Remote (Blue, goes out to amps if you are having any)
-Speaker wires. These will be in pairs, a colour and a coulour and strip. i.e purple and purple/white. The should be 4 sets of these.

In you book it will tell you what colour speaker wires go to what corner of car.

I hope this makes a bit of sense.
