Fair play!
I don't know what to do 1st on mine. The body or the engine. I mean it's no good having a gorgeous looking car if he ain't gonna go no-where but I can wait for him to have those gorgeous looks!
If that makes sense?!

nice looking nova u got there, good luck wiv the modding but y do u need spacers????. it looks like those wheeels stick out enough already and if they stick out too much u can/most probably will get nicked for it too
(something for u to ponder on).On the other hand if they r different spacers that ur on about fitting .......well the i will look like a........total t**t

got a nice little list of things to do there too...

them wheels are well out, u'll have probs with the arches when u lower it :-\

Aragorn
29-05-04, 10:08 AM
the alloys are either wayy too wide, the wrong offset, or both

and the tires are too narrow for the alloys (prolly 195's on 7" rims i guess)

and why have u got rounded front arches?

well to be honest the best thing to do would be, stick steelies on it, lower it, then see what those alloys r like and what offset they are!

Good start for a project tho!

ok. sum of u av been really nice but the ones who think its shit, i couldnt give 2 flyin fucks. nova people shud give advice an not slag other peeps cars off. its my first car an its gonna be mint wen its done so yas can fuck off.

as for the wheels, we already know they are too wide for the car so we are fittin spacers an gettin the arches done coz as it is now, it isnt rubbin on the bodywork. if that doesnt work, im gettin new wheels.

i dont know why the archers are curvy.

i have got me lowerin springs but cant fit them til i got 2 new tyres an the wheels sorted.

the final respray is gonna be in pink.

Surely fitting spacers to wheels that are already too wide for the arches will just make them stick out even more!!

Best bet would be to take one of the wheels off and have a look at the offset of the wheel - it'll probably be stamped on the back of the wheel somewhere or maybe under a centre cap that covers the wheel bolts (If it has one - can't remember). If the et number (offset) is any lower than 45 (49 is ideal) then you're going to always have problems with how the car handles and also arch contact. The best bet would be to sell the wheels to a Golf or Renault owner and get some that fit the Nova better.

this is me birds car. we know for a fact that the wheels are too wide yet they are not rubbin on the arches. thats why we av sed we will space them an then get the archers rolled an see if that solves the problem. we cant actually get the back wheels off at the mo either.

she wants new wheels but its not as easy as it sounds to just sell them an get new ones coz she cant afford new ones.

Stuart
01-06-04, 02:14 PM
so, they are "too wide", not rubbing but your still going to space them. dare i ask why???

if it aint broke dont fix it.

Nova Goddess
01-06-04, 04:00 PM
coz they arent rubbin on the arches but they are every now an then rubbin on the shocks. i spoke to sum1 who had this exact same problem and a lot of other people an they have sed spacers shud fix it. am not too bothered tho coz if it doesnt ill av to get new wheels.

Ste_Nova
01-06-04, 04:12 PM
it's not rubbing on the outers cause it's not lowered... also if the wheels stick out of the arches its an mot fail

Nova Goddess
01-06-04, 04:40 PM
yeah i know. me dad knows sum1 who can work wonders wiv arches so we are gonna see what he can do.

am lookin at gettin new wheels now anyway. i want 17s (but thinner haha).

anyway, it wasnt me who put the wheels on the car. the lad who i bought it off put them on.

Looks ideal for a project car, altho its a bit of a patchwork it seems in pretty good nick. If it was mine i'd perhaps straighten the exhaust up a bit, looks a bit lop sided there (could just be the angle of the photo tho). Look forward to seeing it as it comes along.

Nova Goddess
01-06-04, 06:14 PM
its a twin dtm an they have a nasty habbit of sittin cock eyed although i have deffo seen worse haha.

its gettin changed anyway. it came on the car.

broody
01-06-04, 06:56 PM
goddess, please dont this to offence but if ur wheels r rubbing on the shocks then the offset is to high, over 49 which is the factory nova offset for the perfect offset.
If you put spacers in it'll cause more strain on your barrings.

Maybe you could get some money by sellings your wheels and get some alloys closer to the 49 offset.
Most people go for 45 as its the most common.

More or less all 7j et45 and higher wheels will rub on the shock covers.

I had 15x7, 17x7 and 18x7 all et45 and they used to rub on the shock cover.. its only plastic.

As already said just get new wheels..

Nova Goddess
01-06-04, 07:56 PM
its easier sed than done. i gotta pay for a new windscreen this week an me wheels arent gonna fetch a lot of money coz they arent in brill condition an i havent got a lot of money at the mo.

i am sure someone in the forsale section has some std 3 spoke gte/gsi wheels for sale at a ?10 each.
5 x wheels for ?50 aint bad.
atleast it'll solve prob and allow you to save for the new wheels.

only an idea

Nova Goddess
02-06-04, 10:42 AM
well ive decided to get new wheels now so mine are up for sale haha. am not in too much of a rush to get new wheels tho coz the car isnt on the road but as soon as i sell my wheels i will nearly av enuff for sum brand new ones (if i dont get 2nd hand ones). then i can start properly moddin me baby!!

From what I hear you have the wrong offset wheels.. I'd advise you get some different springs at least aswell... PI Springs are not progressively wound. Ask Will about his PI springs when we compared them to some Apex ones (i think)

broody
03-06-04, 12:03 AM
how much would a good set of springs set me back?

My old wheels were offset 45, your right tho, at the mo i have offset 40 wheels so the wont scrub now.

Breeny
03-06-04, 12:10 AM
Your old 15's? (Wolfrace IRC?) They were only 6.5J!

Decent set of Springs will be ?60 - ?70 ish :)

What make are the PVD shocks? There usually just rebadged PI ones too..

broody
03-06-04, 12:29 AM
ah that'll be why then.

Cossvaux got the kit for me so they could be PI aswell.

Nova Goddess
03-06-04, 10:40 AM
why couldnt they just make it so all wheels fit everythin?? save sum hassle! haha
