5th, 60mph 2400 RPM !??? eh ?

I got a new box put it and im not sure wether it's a close ratio, it came out of a 1.4 luxe, or it might have been an 1.4 SR.

It does 60 in 5th at about 2.3/2.4k RPM, n it generally makes alot of noise even when it#s only 5.5k RPM.

it seems to be a considerable difference in acceleration, as in slower, and the gears are somethin like 0-30 1st, -50 2nd, -70 3rd e.t.c that's changing about 5k rpm !

it was put it by a mate n is runnin a bit low on gear oil, jst wondering whether this is a result of a Botch job !

Going by Haynes, looks like it's an F10W with 3.94 f.drive
It's stamped on the box. I'm sure someone's got a picture showing where it is.

Beforehand i used to beable to get alot wider out fo my gears, like 2nd up to 60mph, 3rd comfortably up to 80mph ! i dunno wot's wrong, wots the standard box for a 1.2 mk2 J reg.

The box hadn't been touched, jst straight outta a 1.4 luxe !

Sounds like that could be a wide ratio box, they weren't close ratio on luxe's so it would take longer to pull through. :D
