Car - MK2 nova
Engine - Cav 2ltr 8v sri MPI 115bhp, F16WR gear box.
Mods to engine - Head ported and polished, Valve seats re-ground, 4-2-1 manifold and down pipe, full SS straight through system, no cat.

Im looking to get my ECU mapped and car rolling roaded, pressent from parents for 21st, so got bout ?100 to spend.

What else should i do, nothing like Twin 40's.

firstly remove all traces of the injection and go for either carbs or throttle boddies. i had head work higher compression and a silly cam and the thing gained 3 bhp :| i removed the injection and went for twin 45 cabs and hey presto 35 bhp extra appeared. :D

for a start i spose you could get an decent bore exhaust system. 2 1/4 inch is ideal for the 2.0. a 4 branch manifold is not necicary as the standard one flows very well but it may reliese a few ponies.

if you can afford it get rid of the injection but if your goin for cheap mods get the 130 head and cam as this will make a difference instantly. probably not much from a scrappy either. it will have SEH on the casting.

the SRI (c20SEH) are 130 not 115bhp?

i think it depends which year the sri car is.

if it has SEH on the head casting then its 130 if it has SE it will be 115. im pretty sure that they are anyway

the later cav had the 115 bhp engines. the 130 ones are the c20seh

115 was c20ne and has lambda probe
130 was 20seh and didnt have lambda probe

the seh/ne should be stamped on the head and the full code should be on the block

since its lambda-less it usually has some kinda baseline fuelling adjustment screw which u need a rolling road and co meter to set up properly

what about the C20SE? that came in SRi's (and I don't care what the EPC says)

firstly remove all traces of the injection and go for either carbs or throttle boddies

If you are going to run throttle bodies, you will need an injection system.

First thing i'd do is charge the gaerbox for a C/R F16. The W/R box slows acceleration down a lot, and is far too long. The C/R box will still take you up to 140mph+ as well. :)

my engine runs on emerald (set up by SG her in NI.)

you need it on the dyno to do it right.

It took him a day to do the mapping, and couple of tries at the cold start but its now great.. 199hp from 1600cc and it ticks over at 900rpm!
