ok im fitting a C16XE this week and while checking which hoses were on the engine for the heater matrix etc i noticed a few anomalies

first off there seems to be a random water pipe coming off the bottom of the throttle body? i guessed that this went to the header tank on corsa? what do i do about this on the nova?

secondly i noticed the fuel line in and out appear to be screw threads - my existing system just uses push on barbs so im unsure as to how i can connect these and where i can get the threaded connectoins

thirdly ive ordered a C16XE top hose and nova gsi radiator hose. is this correct?

fourth is the alternator belt - the engine had PAS and the PAS pump was removed - i wanna keep the polyvee alt so i guess i'll need a different belt possibly off a non pas 1.2 16v or similar - what i wanna know is does the belt tension the same way as the 8v units?

and lastly the oil pressure switch has been removed by someone - will the wider oil pressure switch of 1600 nova fit? it looks like it could sit very close to the alternator belt/pulley

cheers

Kevin

ok thanks to dicko ive got the fuel unions sorted

and im pretty sure i have the correct rad hoses

the random waterpipe on throtttle body i think should be possible to splice into the little hose on the nearside of the radiator that runs to the header tank

oilpressure switch ill try out tomorrow

that leaves the alternator...

any ideas?

You may find the alternator will touch on the chassis leg of the car, I have, but I've made my engine mounts solid now to stop the problem, if the engine has PAS originally the tensioner was on that, so you can get measure the length you need the off to halfraud to find the correct length, I modified a linkage I found down the scrappy to fit but have dump'd it for the tighten up the bottom alt mounts lots method, cause I'm lazy.
Otherwise fit the single V pulleg from the GSi engine and matchign alternator.

Yes the corsa top hose and nova bottom hose is correct

The hoseto the TB you can just block off, or plumb in the corsa header tank if you wish to.

ive got a full set of TAS mounts so hopefully it wont touch anything

i'd prefer to keep the polyvee as its a better alternator in general

ill need to have a good look at the alternator mountings and fabricate something if need be

maybe even use the alternator tensioner from the 8v?

you can always convert the poly V to a singlve V on the alternator.
Tas mounts will work yeah, are going the TB'd route with it then?

Just put a T-piece in the top hose coming out of the header tank and attach the pipe to the t-piece.

My X16XE is being fitted at the moment, nearly finnished.

not tbs any time soon cant afford them

the existing mounts are shagged so i thaught i may as well do it properly - and got some TAS mounts for it

im getting the engine bay stitch welded too so it should be pretty stiff upfront

2 new front tires arrived this morning so they can go on once its all finished :)

lets hope everything goes to plan and its done for PV

err not yet

still aint totally sure on the alternator

and ive a few other niggles to sort

RTV is a type of silicon sealant

ask for it in a motorfactors
