I have a 1.2 nova (carb) with a need for an induction kit/filter.
I was looking at getting a cone filter...but is there any way of adapting this (on a injection you can put an astra or corsa filter box and join the filter)
IS the only way to put a new filter onto a crb engine, done by using the Bolt on filters that cost a bomb?????
Please help!
Appreciate it thanks

what you can do is drill large holes into your airbox, infront of the filter inside, not the other side of the filte where the carb is. my mate has done this on his fiat sciecento and it sounds pretty nice

Just buy a K&N bolt on it's worth it.

For 50 quid it has noticeably improved the cars general acceleration n power. (obviously not significantly, jst enuff 2 notice) mine feels alot more torquier n ready 2 go when you put your foot down.

Another major benefit is that my car now idles alot better and jst generally runs nicer, starts int the mornings better !

For the 1.2 Carb you can't fit a SPi box cos it doesn't fit, there isn't really any way at all of fitting an induction kit.

K&N bolt on is only 50 quid, well worth it in m opinion, it makes the car sound pretty ace too !

Have you used a K&N through the winter yet, thats when the trouble starts with carb icing and everything.LOL :D

As for the original question a bolt-on is the best option for you.

cav 1.6 carb top box might fit instead of the corsa spi one

cav uses a 2e3 as opposed to the 1b1 but u may be lucky

I was thinking........ if you chop some of the pipe that come from the air box, would it be possible for the filter to add onto there. And then just take the old filter out. (then the old air box is still there. and the filter is added onto the pipe that come off of the air box!
Any suggestions on this????????
cheers

Have also heard that K&Ns are rubish in the winter. A friend of mine just went back to the original filter and binned the K&N

That is what most people do, swap the K&N back over winter, but use it in he summer for best performance.

my K&N was fine most of winter apart from a few early starts on a frosty morning it played up once or twice, but when in slow traffic the heat from the engine stops carb icing.

yer but i seriously could notice the difference with the K&N on.

I'm not saying it gives me 10bhp. but it does make a worthwhile difference, even if it's only for 3/4 of the year !

to be honest i cant really say that my K&N bolt on has made much diffrence it has made the exhaust sound better, and i love the sucking noise when u rev the bo**ocks off it thats about it.

oh yeh i have had no probs wi mine this winter!

Yer the sound is very nice. If u give it a quick dab of the accelerator all u can hear is the suck of air go into the carb. Mines made my car go quite raspy tho ! but then again, all nova's r a bit raspy
