people mock the 1.0l but they are the same power as a 1.2i, they do sound pants though

i belive the article in retro cars says its a 1.2 slieved down.

and the impossible thing of peak power and peak torque occur at the same place!! :o

didn't CCC do a 1.0 turbo using a sleeved 1.2 block and metro pistos or something?

aye tis funny that article; 1.2 block sleeved down to 1.0 with 1.6 'head. out powered all these rs' bar a cossie. suprised to see 1.2 block can cope with that sort of power. 45bhp std? now running 100bhp more; that's aprox. 155% power gain, lol. 155bhp per litre. with nos; 200bhp out of a 1000cc? hilarious.

the 1.2i is only at 45bhp cause its restricted (i.e. Cat), if u took these off then the spi would be around 55bhp, same as carb.

standard the 1.2i will prolly have more torque than the 1.0.

Daihatsu Charade GT Ti - 1.0L, 3 cylinder, 12v, =100bhp.
but 157bhp bodged nova engine? :o Surely it must need rebuilding after every race or something?!
Must get that Retro Cars issue.

believe it or not the 1.2-1.6 vaux engines are all very similar designs when it comes to strength - 150bhp from a 1.6 isnt all that difficult to imagine and its almost the same running gear in a 1200

so the 1.2 crank, bearings etc could prolly handle 150bhp just fine with minimal of work - maybe shotpeened rods, some uprated bearings and arp bolts and it would more than likely be fine

but what idiots gonna tune a 1.2 to that extent............................ 8) oh yeah

Not impossible, you should get yourself a Mazda 121, Happens on them as well (peak of 4500RPM then a very sharp dropoff!) as standard though. Still more fun to drive than the Nova.
