Mk 1 Grill...

Alrite lads,

Got a question for ya: I want to mod the grille on my Mk 1 Nova, cut out the slats and mesh it or buy another grille to mess about with. Problem is that the grille is attached to the front bumber - all one unit. Don't know what the best idea around this problem is? Any one else done this to their Mk1?

Any ideas will be greatly valued!

i'd buy a GTE front bumper and grille - much nicer looking and the slats can then be cut out of that grille for meshing.

yeh, sounds like the grill/bumper that you have got is one of the very first ones to go onto novas. as said, best thing to do is to get sr.gte bumper and grill, and then mesh that grill, take a look around some scrappies, or look in the parts for sale section on here, get some good deals sometimes. just bought myself an sr grill for a fiver!

How difficult would it be to fit the new GTE bumper and grill? Simply a case of removing the old and slappin on the new? Or would some modifications need to be done to the GTE bumper grill?

you will probably have to maybe make ur own holes for some nuts and bolts to bolt the new grill on. as ur old one probably isnt attached like that. the sr/gte grills are attached under the bonnet with 3 nuts and bolts.so u may have to make those holes ur self, if u got an sr/gte grill, you could mark out where the holes should be, then drill 'em, keep us updated.

Really want to change the front grille and bumper, will have to keep an eye on the parts for sale forum for the moment as i have a hectic week this week and no time for the scrappie! :(
