GTE Fuel Guage incorrect

Hi,

I have a GTE dash in my new car and the tank is empty but it shows as being just under half.

The shell (and tank and sender) was a 1.2 Flair and to my knowledge hasn't changed.

Any ideas?

Will also check the wiring on the dash tonight as it may be wrong.

The sender has probably become knackered, its a very regular problem on Novas.
But its always worth checking the wiring before you pay to fix something.

cheers will check tonight, any idea how it sends the reading so i can 'simulate' some fuel in it?

I had my fuel sender out last week to put a new gasket on coz it was leaking. The sender still doesn't work coz i haven't been able to put it back in vertically-seriously its imposiible!!! Don't do it unless you're prepared to take the tank out-thats my job for tommorrow. The message is sent from the float on the sender in the tank-the only way to test it is to have it out-and then you won't get it back in :roll:

Mines the opposite it reads empty when its full :x
Does anyone know how much a new sender unit is and if you can still get them?

I think I will just put one of the tanks I have kicking around on, sounds alot easier :).

The digi should work with nova fuel sender as I have had it on another nova and it worked, except reserve lasted about 5 miles.

It also still reads the same as before and I put over 5 litres in it last nite to start the bugger.

:D ITS RUNNING NOW :D
