can i run components off the headunit output or does it need to be amped? can i put 3-way coaxial speakers, in the door or will it sound shite?

If you get components(tweeter,sub,crossover) then they can run from the HU but it is better to get a small amp for them and then run 6x9s or whatever you have in the rear of the car from the HU.
Helps to balance the sound out a bit.

i had mine run off the hu at first then moved em to an amp sounds well better amped up

yeah u can run 'em off the hu but as has been said above they will sound loads better when amped
