clutch help needed, advice please?

just put a 1.4 into my 1.2, and a cr box. the problem is that im alreay to try and start her up, but i dont want to unitl i fit the clutch cable. the clutch on the new engine hadnt been used for a while, so when i try to move the arm back so i can clip in the clutch cable it wont go,

should i

1. put engine in gear then push it so lossen stuff up.
2. put in neutral, then start up but then clutch cable isnt in.

or somehtihg else?

you'll need a big lever or summat to move the clutch arm by hand

just stick it in neutral and try to start it
