Randomly, as I drive and de-celerate my Nova GTE starts to rev at about 3k RPM at tick over! The only thing that stops it and makes the RPM at normal level (1k or less RMP) is if I flick the the throtle. Has n e 1 experienced this or am I alone???? What's up?????
Thanks all
Ross

could be a sticking carb

GTE is injection!!! So cant be a sticking carb! Possibly clogged injectors? Maybe some redex will help but it could be an electrical problem?

i would say it was also a sticky throtle body!! use some redex on it and see what happens!! also it could be your AFM could need a clean!!

throttle switch or idle control valve?
you can do simple checks with a multimeter to check they are functioning correctly, then eliminate them from your problem.

clean out the ICV will be fine afterwards.

Where is the ICV (guessing that's the Idle Conrtrol Valve?) and how and what do I use to clean it out? Thanks all!

I think it is connected to the throttle housing, towards the bottom side. It pulls/screws out.

clean out with brake cleaner

gte engine doesnt have idle control valve so its not that

make sure the throttle butterfly isnt sticking

could also be a dodgy afm

i'd go with a possible sticking butterfly too. strip and clean what you can from the throttle body

My 1.4 SR does exactly the same thing i was about to give up on it but i will try the things suggested.

Your 1.4SR is carb so that problem is probably something sticking inside the carb.
Just clean it out and it will probably cure your problem.

Yeah, i have just realised the picture i was looking at was not a GTE and a different model.
