Fuel tank supply and return lines?

When a std tank is bolted on the car one outlet points forward, one points toward the back of the car. Which is which :?: :roll:

a standard nova tank has his outlet towards the engine.
A GTE/GSI tank has the outlet to the back of the car because the fuel pomp is orginal placed behind the tank.

How can I tell which tank I've got :?: The one pointing to the back of the car is bigger than the one pointing forward, which one is the supply and which one is the return :?: :roll:

if you have a GTE/GSI Tank the outlet for supply is 12mm
the other is then 8mm for return.

with a standard tank the outlet for supply is 8mm
the other is 6mm for return.
