I have a Nova 1.2 which was blowing smoke, so i got the seals replaced. I also all the gaskets, got the ports cleaned etc. I started the car up and now it blows evenmore smoke. Any ideas whats up?? Im 99% i need a new engine as this has done over 100,000 miles. I want to go up to a 1.4 at the highest, which engine would be best to drop in e.g nova, astra, cav, corsa. Which would proform best in a nova. I no a nova engine would be easier but if say cav engines are more reliable i would like one of them.

if it still smokes after replacing your seals,
your "piston springs" i don't know if this is the right word
are bad.

If you think to an engine conversion why not a 1.6 8v GTE.

It's very simple in a Nova.
Check the site of Max-d and my

ai ok.
in holland you can do an conversion and you'll only say that you have a conversion to a 1.6 8v engine.
No one has to now if it is a carb or an GTE/GSI engine.

But ever law is different sow i don't know its in the uk.

it may not be the rings.. it could be the bore or the ringland in the piston.

No one on here can say exactly.. your going to have to lift the head and look.

Do a leakdown test and it'll confirm where the loss is.
