View Full Version : 1.2 tuning
i'm buying a 1.3sr engine and full performance exhaust but putting all the bits (carb, cam, manifold, exhaust) on the 1.2 lump. problem is that one of my mates who no every thing bout novas sed i will blow the bottom end when ragging it by having the cam, is this true or wot? i can put the 1.3 in for insurance!
cheers
if your 1.2 is carb, why not just drop the whole 1.3 lump into the bay?
you could just put the bottom end of the 1.3 onto the 1.2 head if its an spi, but not worth it!
depends what gain you are after!

Adding them mods may push the insurance up to 1.3SR group anyway as you will be at 1.3SR bhp.

ansering your question....
using a 1200 head on a 1300 block will not @Blow your bottom end'.
I have got this setup and it works fine. better than using a 1300 head.
i thought 1200 and 1300 head were the same?
1.2 head is a bit thinner to increas the CR, and i belive the combustion chamber is a different size.

1.2 Head cobustion chamber is a different shape to the 1.3, hence the higher CR. theres not a lot in it though.
The engine will be no more susceptible to blowing than it is now.

Personly i would fit the whole engine, you wouldnt be able to tell the difference between the 1.2 and 1.3 blocks from the outside, so you might as well fit it.
some insurance companies dont mind if you modify the engine, as long as you dont increase the cc, add a turbo or nitro, like LV, but some will want youy to claim every mod!
depending which campany youre with, it might be worth just putting the bits on, then maybe going for a 1.4 after, the different between a 1.2 and a 1.3 isnt worth bothering with!
