gear box

I wanna change the box on my SRi because i do a lot of motorway drving and want it to be doing lower revs at higher speed. What i want is for a box to that drops the revs by about a grand when going from 4th to 5th instead of about half a grand. any1 any ideas?? Is it to do with final drive and would a GTE/GSi box be any better or would i lose acceleration??

an F13 WR, and prehaps fit a 3.84ish FD unless they already come with one lol.


should see it lumber up to speed, but once there it will go at lowish revs

i got an F10/5 (WR) - (i think it has a 3.94 FD)

5th gear, 3000rpm - 65/70mph

4000rpm - touching 100

yer standard f13WR has 3.94 fd as fitted to cavs n astras will do 70 at about 3k and 100 at about 4k

u have a f13 3.94cr like me.. its not ideal 4 motorway driving i must admit..
i have a f13wr 3.74 out of an astra diesel.. that would be ample..20 quid i can have it 4...
