View Full Version : (Another) Tale of Regal Woe

Went to pick up a valver on the weekend, with all work/receipts etc from Regal.

The bloke took it Regal with the XE already in the car with a set of Twin 45s with a BRAND NEW SBD inlet and throttle linkage etc...
(No loom etc)

Regal said that the conversion wasnt good enough and recommended that he get them to do it 'properly'! ?2k later it was in....

He then gets a call from them explaining that his carbs were wrecked beyond repair and no good, so they would have to fit a loom and Regal 'Power Cap' (?350)

He gets the car back and it breaks down in a week and he has to tow it 100 miles to his house! He complains....

Regal explain he will need to take it back to them on a trailer (even though they picked t up firstly)

Bloke ran out of money so car was left, and he was left with a bill for just under ?3000 and NO CARBS!!

Thats right Regal kept them and the maifold and the linkages etc!!!!!

Just for discussion! I know he should have gone nurts and stormed he place, but he lost all faith in the car! :(

DISCLAIMER: This is not the view of me (honest!!) or the site. It is from an irate third party!!

LMAO@Fester

has he been back to regal or at least called them to find out where the carbs are? surely even if they are broken beyond all repair he should be able to get them back with the linkages and stuff or did he let them keep them in return for a discount(or judging by the story, he exchanged them for a shafting!)

if any parts are replaced by a company, they shud give you them bk or ask you if they shud dispose of them

Sounds like they cuda sold them on and thats a trading standards query.

They originally quoted him ?800 and after having the car for a month rang him and said unless he brought donw another ?1200 they wouldnt do anything else until it was all payed for.

From talking to him (as he was embarressed to say directly) we worked out he had about 5 trips in the car before it broke down for good.

The guy called out another mechanic who took a look at the car and refused to touch it due to the state of the conversion etc.

After being there for less than ten minutes we discovered a massive fuel leak, an abandoned Lambada sensor (that isnt needed???) and a few other blatent faults and just random untideness like ecu rattling about etc.

All what me and Will have said is what the guy told us the weekend, all this happened about 18 months ago and he has had the car in his garage since.

I cant imagine someone making it up, after all he didnt gain from it thats for sure.

xxxxx are the biggest cunting cowboys in the business, i would rather ram a fistfull of wasps up my ass than take my car to them. Backup and support from what i have been told is 0 from them. I recon if i was given a pound for every person they had ripped off i would have a good few million quid now and probably have a maybach as well   Rick

All the views in this post are my own views and have nouthing to do with the site in anyway.

get him 2 get on to trading standards definatly in that case, and see if the other mechanic will do him a report stating all the faults etc with the conversion. with some help from trading standards he should be able to take them to small claims court for the money he has been robbed of 4 the dodgy conversion and the 45's etc

cant see it ever getting sorted out tho unless he is prepared to actually do something about it, rather than just keep throwing more money at the cowboys and accepting the shit they throw at him.

would you let anyone keep your twin 45s and everything else?????

i know i would never have ever left the place without getting them back!
no disrespect meant at all but it sounds like he's being walked over by them and he's prepared to let em get away with it

sounds like a load of crap to me.if all this happened about 18 months ago im not suprised the conversion looks a bit shoddy now.i mean how many people have looked at this car in 18 months ? how many times have the fuel pipes been removed to check for fuel flow? how many times has the ecu been removed to check for a fault ? its ok slagging them for gossip but think about it 18 months is a long time and 20 think they know it all mechanics later im not suprised the car looks in a crap state.
my advise dont take this as 100 % accurate.

If he paid good money to have the conversion done by 'professionals' why would he need to check the fuel lines for fuel flow? or remove the ECU to check for faults?

I know that if I went to a company such as Regal, Courtneays or any other large Vauxhall specialist and it went wrong after 18 months then I'd be pretty peeved.

Theres no point sticking up for regal, your on a loosing battle! They are over priced, and there workman ship is piss poor. I have a number of stories to confirm this!

- exhaust being fitted with cable ties
- Supposidly new cambelts snapping after two weeks
- Side skirts being cracked, then sprayed with 2tone paint instead of 5tone!

Shall i go on...........

He actually used the car for less than one month before it went tits up, he took 18 months to decide to part with it as it was upsetting him so much as no one would touch it and he couldnt afford another trip to a "vauxhall specalists" for them to look at it.

10 for effort! But as TWAG says, to stick up for them is fine. To change people's perception is near impossible!

There is just no excuse.
