Thats what i would suggest doing as then all the wiring to the boot is already there, just disconnect the wiper motor connect the wires to the solenoid and then your boot will open when you flick the rear wiper button.

it'll be safer on a mk 1 as u have a seperate switch 4 the wiper its not on the stalk

Just run 1 wire down the door its that easy

then just run a live of the fuse box
