View Full Version : brake servo's??
what will fitting a bigger brake servo do? i have a 1.2 servo with 2.0 16v brakes. is it worth it or is it just a talking point (my servo's bigger than your servo)
cheers
ben.
yes u will notice a big differnce in braking, lmao @ "just a talking point"
Well the GSI brake servo is bigger and so should give better braking stength. I say its worth it, especially with 2.0 brakes.
see this topic http://www.novaload.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=92623
i thought i assisted in the pushing of the pedal rather than increasing the amount it can be pushed by??
the brake servo is much like power steering. its nice, it makes life easyer, but it dosent acctually make you steer (so to speak)
so i don't need a bigger on then
is the GTE/GSi master cylinder any bigger or is it just the servo? If it is, what are the two sizes?

Just chuck an astra servo in there then u will notice the difference
The bigger the servo, the more "assistance" you get with braking... my standard 1.2 servo requires me to pretty much stand on the pedal to get the brakes to stop decently lol... with a bigger servo i wouldn't have to put so much effort in to get the same level of braking. As Camb said its just there to make your life easier.

Thats how people have always explained it, the bigger servo won't stop you it will just multiply the amount of force needed on the brake pedal to create the same brake strength.
Its just like using a longer lever to lift something, if you get what i mean.
