Hey people, I found this forum through another forum

Ive got about ?300 to spend on a sub and amp (less if possible) Im not sure of what kit to buy. A few people have told me to look at things like Magnat, Maystar and Mac Audio, but you guys seem to promo SPLx a lot

What is it about SPLx that makes them a better bet?

I dont know a whole lot about installing things like this, so Ill ask about that later on :)

Thanks

The best thing about SPLX is, the price,LOL.
I wouldn't bother with SPLX, for your sub and amp i would go for a JBL kit, basically the JBL GTO amp and JBL GTO 12inch sub.
Look here

A deal for ?159.
But you need to account for an amp wiring kit as well.Around ?30.
With the rest of the money get a decent headunit from somewhere like Kenwood/Pioneer/Alpine etc, if you ain't get a head unit.
Or get some Kenwood/JBL 6x9s and run them from the head unit.
There is also the option to get a component speaker sytem, which is basically two speakers/two tweeters and a crossover.

They normally go into the doors, you could run them off a little amp.

for something simple, look at the Pioneer TSW-305C 12" sub (?70), the music you like will dictate what subbox you will want.

make a ported box for it so u get better efficiency and better depth.. good for hip hop, drum and bass, metal..

sealed box, if your going for out and out Sound quality(SQ) or listen to fast house style music..

a good budget amp is the Mac Audio Attack 4051 for ?150, and the bonus is its a 4 channel amp so you can run your front speakers (NOT BACKS) off it as well, and get a much more better balanced sound.

this company are excellent: http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/
also, they have a very good car audio forum ;)

hope this helps?

You get what you pay for.

Cheap kit is fine if all you want is noise...spend the extra on decent kit and reap the rewards.

Also, I would stick with the online retailer suggested by Onnie. In my less than humble opinion, places like Bassjunkies and Allyourbass are little more than box-shifters, and not worth dealing with.

Remember. A fool and his money are easily parted.
