Just confirmed My order for a new gearbox, I'm having an F15 Quaife SCCR box with a Gripper 90% plate type LSD and a 4.86 CWP :o
It should arrive by the end of the week, hoping to get My car back from the bodyshop by end of next week. Just have to re-fit the engine and new box 8) to get it ready for PV. Speaking of PV would anyone (Dan or Jim   ) mind if I turned up with soft compound Moulded slicks on the car for that extra bit of grip :?: :D :?:

Big Russ.
I have several customers whod be interested in the 4.5 cwp.
They also dont like the griper diff, one is now using a quaiffe and others are on ZF.
PM me prices please

Steve,
I've had all three and the Gripper is the one that I swear by now, the Quaife atb diff is in My opinion no good in a tarmac rally car as it takes a fraction of a second to "load up" after you go back on the throttle say mid way in to a bend. Mine scared Me silly :o :o . I need to know that My car will go wherever I point it when I'm on the throttle
ZF's are good , it's just that the design is getting up to 30 - 40 Years old now and the gripper is a more modern design plated diff. I really like Gripper because as I said earlier My car goes wherever I point it whilst on the throttle and seems to turn in a bit sharper on it than when on the ZF.
Speaking of PV would anyone (Dan or Jim   ) mind if I turned up with soft compound Moulded slicks on the car for that extra bit of grip :?: :D :?:
I don't mind Russ, I think you're car will shatter the N/A 1.6 8v time anyway. Would be good to see it set up properly for the 1/4mile just to see what kind of time it is capable of.

sounds good,
I dont compete in a nova , I sprint a mini, but im just saying what the customers say.
The gripper is based on a salisbury.. which is also 50 years old.
I def agree about the quaiffe.. i didnt like it in a mini, I now use a Tran-x

if road legal they have no reason to complain, but being southern they probably will :p

They are road legal as they have wear indicators on them, they are 18% tread I think which is the bare minimum legal requirement. They are as per the WRC so You can use them on road sections between stages.
Nice and sticky too, they only last Me about 100 - 150 miles maximum so not really any good for the road though :o

 "unwritten legislation" in the EU and UK *coughs novaload community cough* says the rules mean you have to run the car as it would be on the road.

You won't be Mike :P You've already said you're going to be running 14's instead of the 17's. Not sure what you're going to do about the Interior, but you're carrying a lot of weight with the ICE, fridge and rear seats.
Anyway, we'll have to see how the cars perform when there on the strip.

only reason i made use of the 14s before now was to use the nearly new tyes i had put on em
its all good fun - ill be running the car at standard road trim. well standard as id drive it on the road - you cant call a bloody fridge and 17 standard road trim

unwritten legislation" in the EU and UK *coughs novaload community cough* says the rules mean you have to run the car as it would be on the road
Should be ok then. Not very often I drive the car on public roads but when I do it has moulded slicks and I'm flat out
Russ- is your car completely road legal as in MOT Tax etc?
BigRuss

Yeah it is MOT'd and taxed, cheap tax too as it is a 1.2 on the logbook
