I'll have a go from both, see what gives the best reading.

err, isn't the connector on the back of the weber for connecting to a plenum, airbox flap or something?

I've done the same as mikeoxford.

If u take it from the front there is less vacuum as u open the throttle, which gives the correct reading on the gauge.

If u take it from the back there is more vacuum as u open the throttle, which is wot u want for the timing advance i.e. more throttle>more vacuum>more advanced timing as the engine revs harder.

really? I read through the instructions that came with my 32/34 and it states the vacuum advance goes to the back.

it says put it on the back for 1.3/1.4 liter models but,

put it on the front one 'For all models with electronic control vacuum advance'.

Now i'm sure mine isn't electronic so i put it on the back.

I showed the tuning mechanic when i got the carb setup and he said that was right for my car.
