Alternator Belt tightness !?

My alternator belt was making a squeeking sound n it was really slack, it was also making a dry rubbing sound. So i tightened it up by just leavering the alternator up untill the belt tightened up a fair bit and then did the bolt back up.

how do i know how tight the belt is meant ot be !?

it's making a whining sound now, bit like a turbo

for the belt to b at the right tension u shud b able to twist it to 90deg and no more

sounds like yours is a bit toooo tight now

thats the bearings of the alt you can hear :lol:
