i got my new car for 3 days 1.3sr E reg. then driving down the road and it starts poppin for no reason go home take the k&n off and the carb is fully open and it just flaps about the spring has gone so its like driving all the time with the choke out how do i fix can i get to the spring if it is a sping or do i have to get a new carb?? help please

change the bimetalic spring housing off a scrapper if the spring is broken.
or you could buy a manual choke conversion

or just get a weber 32/34, i just did for my 1.2 (soon to be 1.4 hybrid)
its much better, smoother and wants to pull, why didnt vauxhall just stick webers on it in the first place, why shitty pierburg.....

yeah a weber carb would bolt straight onto a 1.3sr anyway.

providing you have the adaptor plate that goes between the manifold and the carb.

yeah its just 3 screws holding the housing on , couple of water pipes and an electrical connection to deal with.

u could swap one in less than 10 mins

also known as an automatic choke.


yeah its just 3 screws holding the housing on , couple of water pipes and an electrical connection to deal with.
when you change it, do not do it after you have drove the car or run the engine (for a period of time) otherwise you will may have hot coolant p*ss out all over your face...(have done it).... :roll:

you want a 32/34 weber i had one of these my sr ripped although it was a 1400. they rule

all sorted now thanks lads just changed the spring easy 2 screws holding it on cars in the body shop next week and then gunna post it on my profile cu all at pv
