webers are more well known and are eaiser to get parts for, although the dell'orto's are "supposed" to be better carb's. mine are shite but then again you could get a set of webers and they are crap too. it's a bit like the kent vs piper thing really.
i have a book some where telling of the differences between the carb's so i will dig it out and have a look.
as for how the carbs look. heres my dell'ortos i'm sure someone will post a set of webers for you

ive had both and i prefer dellortos as they are better on fuel when driving normally. but still have the poke when you plant your right foot. some engine tuners may not have the parts for them as they are not as commen as webbers. my engine tuner preferes dellortos tho so i spose its personal preference.

here is a pic of my dellorto 45s

they are just old, when i had the set-up velos told me they were no good. the fueling side is fine but the idle valve's are shot  there is very little adjustment on them, mina are also not a matching pair. you can get different types of dell'orto DHLA carb and each one is slighty different, as far as i know i have a DHLA(a) and a DHLA.

you can see on my pic's that one carb has a white cover on is and the other has a black one

here's a set of dell'orto'd and a set of webbers for you

No i meant 1.4 with carbs compared to a 1.6se. I raced the zetec with the 1.6 years ago

a standard 1400 with the carbs will not beat a gte/gsi. add a bit of headwork and a cam and it's a different story.

have a look through some of my old threads about my engine. they will be in general chat and technical.

as said - weber parts are easyier to come by - in my experience in the midlands anyway

webber sold there desighn to dellorto which is why they look very simalar. delorto used to put them on standard cars. mine are a recon pair from a lotus twin cam engine. possably a cortiana or a sunbeam.
dellortos spray a mist of fuel into the chambers where as webbers spray a direct squirt of fuel in. this makes dellortos better to drive at low revs because the fuel atomises quicker where as webbers need a higher air speed to atomise the fuel. eg higher revs
personally ive not really noticed much difference.

As above.. dellortos have better atomisation and a different pump system.

Better on a road car but it depends who did the head work..

Ive a flowbench and have dynoed a lot and Id say it depends on engine spec.. If it was mine, id have dellortos on it on road.
