You can mount it any where you want if the space has ventilation and is big enough etc.
Try the glove compartment for small amps, passenger kickwell, under the seats etc.

yeha, i'd have said under seats would be a little too hot. How big is the amp? What about mounting it under the parcel shelf, or bolt it onto the metal backing of the rear seats? Then you'll still retain boot space.

Under the shelf is deffo not a good idea as the amp will be upside down and get VERY hot. On the back of the seat is good, use rubber washers though to keep it off the metal. Under the seat is ok if there is at least a few cm's of ventilation all round the amp, of course depends how hard the amp is being run too.

shelf !?

do you mean the parcel shelfs in the front passenger footwell !>

if so i don't think that's such a bad idea. The amp will not get hot from simply being upside down, that's rubbish ! it would get hot because the heat would just rise and be stuck around it, heat diffuses so it wouldn't be much of a problem really. Amp's have pretty massive heatsinks. Problem is it would get hot because of your heaters kicking out air into your footwells.

I'd avoid under the seat because it's hard to get at and it's not much better ventalated and around aloda carpet n foam seats !

Attach it to the back of your rear seats in the boot. Best place for it

The heatsinks are designed to dissipate heat upwards and outwards as heat rises. Place an amp upside down, with the heatsink upside down, the heat still rises. So the heat sink does sod all and the amp gets very hot. If you dont believe me, test it out yourself and see how hot it gets!!
