This picture was taken last weekend at the 2004 Doncaster car show.
Does anybody know how people create these installs, what is the silver plastic like install that is moulded to shape. is it fibre glass, plastic or what.

Its fibreglass. You start by creating a wooden frome with rings to hold the speakers. Then stretch a cloth over the frame and brush it with the resin. Build up the layers of fibreglass, sand smooth and paint.
A very simple explanation but thats basically how its done
i thought that was how it was done but that seems like a lot of hard work and to get it smooth enuf to paint and see absolutely no blemishes mush be a nightmare, just wondered if there was an easier way.

Its not that hard, i made a sub box in the same way. The filling does take ages to get THAT smooth though, alot of work went in to getting the finish that good.
if you don't want to spend ages smoothing and painting it, how about covering the fibrglass in carpet?

yeah you could do that but it would take away the excelent look that the fibre glass painted does
I prefer capret installs.

depends on what look you want really
carpet look is for a softer look and the fibre galls on eis for a mad in the future look
all depends on what the exteria looks like
if is a mad kitted/modified motar then you want a mad install
well thats what i think
