Hey guys, got a question for you;
I just recently got a set of 14" Alloy's of an old Beamer - perfect fit for me Nova- but need to slap some new tyres on. The ones on the Alloys atm are huge and make my Nova look more like a Monster Truck!
So what size tyres? The MoT shop near me said 185/60/14; The bloke who I got the rims of said 175/55/14; and my girlfriends dad, mechanic, said that neither sound right!?!??!
Any ideas please guys?!?!
hmm. dont suppose you know the offset? IIRC the bmw offset varies from around 35 up to around the 47 mark.

Dont know if this is good or bad but the offset is ET35...
I think the alloys are originally to fit a Renault...

Out of interest, why is it not a good offset? (I know jack about alloy's/offset etc) :)
What size wheels would you recomend then?

for ultimate handling and geometry i'd reconmend 14's
the wrong offset of a wheel on a car will increase the load on the wheelbearings and cause them to break up quicker and also u will have difficulties wiv arch clearence(rubbing of the tyres on the inner arch lips) causing the tyres to wear faster and in some cases cause them to blow out, also it will up set the geometry and wheel alignment of the vehicle causeing uneven tyre wear

More harm than good then? :(
well my Oz alloys are et38... lowered 60mm on spax adjustables. Rear passengers are a no-no (and they'd have to sit on the subs lol) and sometimes they catch if you hit a lump, but generally they're ok - speed bumps are fine as long as you go careful. The car does tramline a bit, and can be a little twitchy on corners but still handles better than standard wheels & suspension.
