Just read some shocking news in the latest Revs about the latest type of speed camera. These bastards take a photo of everyone that goes past, then at another fixed point down the road they take another picture of everyone that goes past & it then calculates your average speed, killing the old trickof hooning up and jamming on the brakes. Coz this isnt a radar based system radar detectors wont work but i bet Geodyssey'll have em licked - that's all well and good if you've got one but i aint.
Sketchy

Speed cameras are to be hidden in catseyes to trap thousands of motorists and generate extra millions for police forces.
The cameras - attacked as "big brother tactics" by motoring organisations - represents the greatest threat yet to speeding drivers.
Police forces around the country are expected to bring in the cameras later this year after they win Home Office approval. They have been trialled in Clapham.
The devices would send the number of motorists caught breaking speed limits soaring. Already one million fixed penalty notices for up to ?60 and three points on drivers' licences are issued each year for speeding and new legislation letting police forces keep money from fixed penalties is expected to swell this to 10 million.
The highly advanced cameras will be invisible to drivers who will mistake them for standard glow-in-the-dark catseyes used to mark the line of a road. But they can gauge the precise speed of a passing car before taking two photographs - and beaming the evidence to the police.
Dubbed the "Intelligent Camera Stud", the catseyes have already been tested on the South Circular without the vital cameras. When they are fitted to roads later this year the new devices will be automated and use digital technology, enabling them to trap a limitless number of motorists in one day.
One senior police source said: "This is the holy grail as far as combatting speeding is concerned. Motorists will see the signs warning of cameras but they won't know where they are. When I drive past the signs I will be damn sure to slow down and watch my speed until I can be sure I'm not being filmed. The beauty of these is that you just don't know where the next one might be. You have to drive carefully all the time."
The catseyes - being developed by a world-leading technology firm in Tonbridge - will use radiowaves to detect passing vehicles. Just like traditional speed cameras they will take two pictures in quick succession while a remote computer analyses the images to calculate how fast the vehicle was travelling.
Motorists will not know they have been caught until they receive the fixed penalty notice. The high-resolution images will be admissible in court and very hard to argue with.
The advanced new mini camera technology is being developed by leading British firm Astucia, which aims to launch its device later this year. Once approval is granted police forces are expected to queue up to purchase and install them.
Astucia is tight-lipped about its plans. But sales director Alan Mole said overseas countries including the US had shown "strong interest" in the patented technology.
He said that the device would also be used for traffic data collection. The new stud will be almost flush with the road surface and the lens set so that the camera can capture individual vehicle images or traffic scenes. It will have "optical character recognition" to determine vehicle number plates and be solar-powered.
Today the RAC Foundation said that when fitted in accident blackspots the catseye camera would be welcome. "But if they spring up in every catseye it will be like big brother," said the organisation's executive director, Edmund King.

I thought that cam, but going along my favourite back road the other day the filth had set up a speed trap. Thank god there was an old git in front of me.
Getting done for speeding in a 1.0l corsa would have been very embarrasing.

do speed cameras detect motorbike number plates as they are smaller than car number plates?
also, word is that the police have a van now, the park it on top of motorway bridges and it has a speed camera hanging out of its window. sneaky.
that might be a load of utter crap, but its what i heard
