I think they are 118bhp. Same lump 1.8i as fitted to early mk2 Astra GTEs.

As they are old, most will probably be suffering from rust and shagged suspension.

Kool, unexpected niceness from nova peeps!

lmao!

I aint puttin hoog wheels, wide arch kits on, jus makin it plain & simple.

Only one i could find for sale on Autotrader was for 500 quid, seemed ok tho, must be hard to get hold of!

Its the MK1, which was only made for like 2 years, so no wonder they are hard to find!

I have chosen this for a few reasons,

1.Quite rare
2.not a nova
3.not a ford
4.looks nice
5.MORE POWER!

lol, dont take it to heart, i jus want summink thats different.

Cheers for any more info.

Mark.

If i was a bit older, i'd get an Astra GTE 16v...recaro rainbow interior, POWER STEERING!, electric everything, quick, reliable, you onle need to put 17s & -40mm suspension for them to look mint...

and they are going for about -?1200 now! it's a shame really, they are such nice cars...

Im after either a mk1,1.3-1.4SR next or GTE,or a mk2 1.4SR-I quite like astra GTEs at the mo,and may consider an SRi or even a CD-saw a well nice CD estate,had loadsa panels,mix n match,with 15s,the same as declan burkes,just seemed pleasant tho,made a change,and wasnt a volvo/scooby estate!

The mk1 astras are more sturdy and handle beter than the mk2`s apparently.

I love MKI Astras....I almost bought a GTE last year, but decided to stick with my Nova for now.
Have a look in the Gallery on www.Topbuzz.net and look for "(formally) Dan Smith's MK1 GTE"
He was trying to sell it for ages according to Alan Knight (site admin), and he was telling me about it 'cos I'd told him I was interested in buying one. It's mint, thought he's sold it now :(

A mate at college had a 1.6S in Red, which was nice...then he sold it, and bought an XR2 :O

There's a couple of MKI GTE's driving around my local area (North Sheffield), though I think ones been scrapped now.......just guessing though, 'cos I've not seen it for a while, and there's one that looks identical on the local scrappy......CRASHED :(
I was mint as well!

As for body kit....there's no point in adding any kit to the GTE, 'cos it looks mint as it is....wide arches, front and rear splitters, rear spoiler.

I've got the old Vauxhall Brochures that include the MKI Astra, so if you want, I'll scan in the relevant pages, and send 'em to ya ;)

Theres one in lancaster that's bright pink, runs a 2.0l 16valve turbo, 17s and center exit exhaust

it's awesome but apparantly he had to chop small sections out of the grill to get it all in there..... watch out for it if you're up north and weep at how your car isnt as good - i do

B-) Streakers beware: Your end is in sight B-)

Mark....I'll send the scans tomorrow mate ;)

The two brochures I've got, with the MKI Astra GTE in, are July-August-September 83, and November-December 83, so I'll scan in a few pages from each.
I may put them on my web-space on www.novabug.com then you can down-load 'em from there, or I'll e-mail them to you.
