interior neons

hi, just wondering, how many neons can you have in your car? and if you have 2,3,4 or more, how and what would be the best way to wire them up? could i hard wire them up to one with a cigarette lighter connector on the end, and then put the cig connector in the cig lighter?

Not that many people actual have them,1-They are illegal,2-Most people think they don't look that good.

To wire them its best to have them on direct live feeds from the battery, with a switch in between the live feed and the neon.you should be able to use multiple ones if they were connected to one cigarette lighter end, but i wouldn't.

any more than two and i'd definately have them running off a wire from the battery, not the cig lighter. Don't forget to fuse the wire, and keep the fuse in the engine bay. You'd also probably be best off running them off a couple of switches so you don't overload one switch (unless you have a big heavy duty one).

IMO they can look good, but each to their own. I would reccomend for best effects try to keep the neon tubes tucked away somewhere so you can't see them, only the light splash - good places are under seats, under front parcel sheves, under rear parcel shelf and/or supports, etc. And don't go all Paul Walker and drive with them on or you won't be able to see shit :P

cheers for your replies, i was only thinking of having 3 at the most, i aleady have one in the drivers footwell, u cant see the neon, but just the light. i wanted to have another in the passengers footwell, i thought i could maybe have them both running off of one cig connector? and if i had them running off of the live from the battery, what about the earth? so do i just stick a switch between the wire going to the battery and the wire going to the neon? thanks.

For one on the passenger side, just connect it to the wires for the one in the drivers side. Two should be ok off the cig lighter (not ideal but it'll do the job). As for the earth, if you have a mk2 you can use the screw that holds the centre console in place as an earth... if you have mk1 i think there is an earth under the drivers side footwell up on the bulkhead somewhere.

If you do the wire coming from the battery then yeah, you just bung a switch on the live wire between battery (and fuse) and neon/s.
