I've got, 32/34 + lumpy cam + don't drive like a knob (usually), and get 40 odd mpg. If you look further on the posts, ppl are argueing about 40's mpg. So the choice is yours.

32/34 will definately give u better mpg than the T40s.... but the T40s will get u to your destination quicker

twin 40 mpg are fine.

there very economically driven lightly.

and if your driving it heavily and they drink the fuel - wouldnt any other method i.e 32/34 etc etc.......?

check the insurance first.......

if you can afford it

do it.

don't do it. you use you're car too much for them. get a 32/34 weber carb it is great bit of kit. when i had mine it started and drove better than my mates brand new astra. i only swapped to t40 because i have a van for work, so i only use my car for fun. also t40's work best with other mod's, when i first got mine it made 80 bhp with just the carbs. thats 8 bhp extra which is crap for the money spent. now i have got a decent head they work and drive loads better. if you still want t40's then fit them after all other mods(head, cam)

Hyperthetically...

Say you had 2 cars with identical spec except one had a 32/34 and the other had twin 40's.

If u drove them both exactly the same the car with the 32/34 would do more miles to the gallon.

If T40's don't use more petrol then why put them on in the first place. (More petrol used = more power).

Unless your going to doddle along at 1500 rpm everywhere.

40's prob wont use that much fuel when driven normally but i cant do that, i have to drop gears and nail it so i can listen to them. Mine drink fuel but then again i dont drive it normally.

over the last few days this subject has risen up in various forms, Hyperthetically means diddly tbh unless you have first hand experience yourself, we can all go by general feeling easily but its those that use them that have the true comments.

power is created when the pedal is to the metal and your trying to get as much air and fuel in as possible, under 'normal' driving conditions as has been echoed by most of the t40 owners mpg is 30mpg +. the amount of fuel that goes in is governed by your right foot opening the throttle.

surely there's a limit (maximum) mpg on T40's. Its not like you could get 50mpg or even 40-45, no matter how slow and careful you drive.

They just use quite a bit of fuel generally.

A peirburg 2e3 can get 40-50 fairly easily mind.

But i think we should end/lock this topic. There's nothing to gain from debating it.
