might get 25mpg if your lucky on a 1400sr. AS apposed to around 40mpg standard.

Depends how hard u drive, but 25 is prob about right.

I get 32-34mpg on my 32/34 DMTL weber and thats not even on a motorway trip. Just a roads.

lol sorry snowface i gonna have to disagree on this subject to lol :( . carbs are as thirsty as your right foot is heavy tbh, if they are setup properly by a reputable r/r they produce 30-35mpg. I average this with mine and that includes the odd few playtimes within a tank of fuel. naturally ballsout driving 24/7 will see it drop.

i drove the pie mans car for 4 hours from norf wales. have to say it probably used less fuel than my 1.2 lmao

i wasn't really sure i just remember several people have said on here they (T40's) don't get very much to the gallon.

I suppose some peeps don't get them set up right anyway. A sporty cam will also up your fuel usage.

my 1.4sr on t40s cam and ported and polished head fully set up on rollers and jetted correctly running 112bhp was worse on fuel than my super-tuned current 2.1l turbo and that it a fact ive owned both. i did used to thrash the 1.4 though! i think it did 45-60miles on 10quid

i filled mine up on saturday, i've done 180 miles since then including being on a rolling road, revving the nuts off it for my mates, and loads of heavy right foot action. i reckon there is about 40 miles left in the tank. i use optimax, i dont know if that is better or worse for fuel consumption but is always seems to drive better with that in it.

As Dan say's it's down to how you drive the car. Provided you are sensible you shouldn't see much of a drop in fuel consumption compared to a standard engine.

on average with my 45s on a quite heavely tweeked (ported polished head, high compression, wild cam, full system zorst 160 bhp etc...)
2.0 8v which are renound for doin not much to the gallon normally does 65 miles to a tenner which i think is not bad really.

depends how much fuel you get for a tenner.

?10 of BP Ultimate round here would only get 11.7 litres
?10 of Esso Unleaded would get you 13 litres.

U shpuld say how many mpg you get rather than how many miles to the ??.

And if you only get 65miles on a tenner thats only 25mpg if your fuel is 77-78 pence a litre. ... Rubbish.

I've got 270 miles on a tank and when i filled it up it still had 5-6 litres left in the tank so i could have got 300.

When i had my standard 1.2 in i could get 333miles in the same tank (5-6 litres left in) quite easily.

Normally i fill her up at 250-260 miles and i put in 33-35 litres of Ultimate.

i would say how far it goes to a full tank but ive never put a full tank of fuel in the thing for about a year

the most fuel i normally put in is a tenner  gets just over 13 litres in bp i think. cant remember tho.

the way i see it - why visit the garage 3 times a week/fortnight shoving ?10 in

at the end of the week/fortnight your still gonna have put ?30 in the car so why not just shove it all in at once and save yourself the hassle of putting fuel in

weight saving

oh.... and some people cant fit more than a tenner in a tank......

and as for fuel consumption.... id agree with the rest of the clan.

low MPG is a myth.

it REALLY depends how you drive as everyone says.

even with the odd race here or there, or just occasions when i boot it on an open road i still manage to average about 28 MPG

best ive had is about 31 MPG i think.

i filled up tonight. i put in 33 litres. from my last tank full i did 210 miles, and still had nearly 1/4 of a tank left

car is quicker with less fuel in.
and if ive got a full tank it allways seems to get used quicker cos ill drive it more. its the old ''yeah ive got loads of petrol ill go for a drive'' jobbie.

Snowface

i always put a full tank in. 42 litres is only about 42kgs and going to a petrol station 2-3 times a week (instead of every 7-10 days like me) it costs you money, time and hassle.

i never think 'oh i got loads of petrol i'll go for a drive'

if i need petrol i buy it. If i don't need to drive anywere i don't lol.

But thats just how i do things.
