Bobfish on RoyBacer claims 105BHp using 285 degree cam and Weber 32/34DMTL from his 1.4SR. 92BHP is plain crap - but Bobfish's might be at the fly and that might be at the wheels? who knows....

i tuned my 1.4sr up with t40's, courtney high lift cam and ported and polished head and i managed 112bhp, i got this recored on a cert. even though it isnt much power they fucking fly and sound sweet. if you want even more power then you best speak to velos but it will cost u alot of money so you may as well get a more cost effective option of a 2l 16v.

i think 92 bhp is good goin for 1.4 SR. that about 20bhp more than std; on a 13+ year old car and it didn't cost much, thats good. std gsi power. the other quoted claims are only up to 10bhp more really; see how the lads 92bhp runs in.

1. Velos are proud that there rollers are realistic and conservative, they do not care what they read, as long as the are conssistent. Now I know they read on the low side, and I dare say that if you took a std GSi there it would only run 90bhp.

2. My 1.4SR rolling roaded at 130bhp at the fly, but was admittedly at a rolling road that read high. At Velos I would have expected 120bhp.

3. The car in question has a standard engine, bar the injection head, and some twin 40's, so the results are good.

4. Clearly many of you do not understand how Twin 40's work. The power curve and torque spread can be tuned as desired by changing choke diameter and trumpet length. You can see from the power curve that is is producing shed loads of torque, and I dare say that if he went to larger chokes, he could increse his peak bhp by more than 10bhp at the expense of the low down grunt. He'd have more bhp, but it would not make the car any quicker on the roads.

Nova Rally, take your car along to Velos and get it on the rollers, and lets. From the spec you have, I'd guess it will get 70bhp. It maybe higher on other rollers.

thank you kind sir.

"producing shed loads of torque" now i'm really chuffed.

no point having 100+ bhp if its all above 6000 rpm. wonder what i'd get with a AST2

i was thinkin id have about 100-105 bhp? 2 litre conversion is out of the question due to insurance.

I think he meant let's see as well, but tough shit coz the car aint going anywhere till I get the new Camshaft in, last rollers it was on claimed 77BHP, which was pretty good going! Anyway, I'm not interested in peak Horsepower - I'm more concerned with getting some more low down power, as I'm not very impressed with the take offs it gets from a standstill.

Oh and Bobfish claims 105 on a stanfdard SR head and manifold as well? Gotta be bullshit?

brake this brake that...

no matter how many times the moderators on here try and explain to people that PEAK BHP is only part of a bigger picture, its still the only thing people wanna talk about. wake up and listen. :)

I wasn't raving about anyone - I was merely questioning which is the more accurate figure.

I want to get mine rr'd @ Regal I hear they run under.
It seems to me that the BHP figures are more or less meaning less if they can vary from place to place. How will anyone can get a TRUE comparision between cars is beyond me.
A better measure of how good the car and driver are is the drap strip. Although this clearly doesn't include cornering ability but its a fairer way to settle power disputes IMO.

best thing to do is find a rr you are happy with and go to that one every time
