i installed windows xp on my pc and now i cant get into microsoft office i was then told to install office xp pro i go to intall that and its saying i need a disc called windows office 2000 s-r1 premium can any one shed any light on to what i need to do

Sounds like OFFICE 2000 and not Office XP

the bit that is confusing me is the sr1 bit. are you sure it didn't say sp1? If so, then you have installed 2000 but you need the 1st service pack installed aswell. Just start again and use XP

sounds like when u are instaling office xp you only got the Upgrade version so its asking you to point to where office 2000 is so it can install.

If you had Office 2000 before you installed XP then it sounds like its asking you to insert your office 2000 disc. As programs run differently in XP and so i think your office just needs updating from the office cdrom.
Office 2000 does work with XP cus i have used it before,
but as already said are you sure it didn't say SP1(service pack 1), cus that what updates Office etc.

When it comes up asking for you to put in sr-1 or whichever it's one of the office 2000 discs, put it in then click ok it should check it then ask you to put the other disc back in.

It's like on mine, i've got win me upgrade i put the winme in and it asked for win 98 to make sure i was entitled to use the upgrade
