View Full Version : running porbs
right have been meaning to post about this for a while now, what it is is that when i start my car up (sites in the garage but gets started bout 3/4 times aweek) it sounds like it is firing on 3, but if you hold it at about 4000 revs(no rev count so i think its about that) for about 4/5 mins then it will clear but then i turn it off for 15 mins or so, start it agen and it will be the same sounding like its fireing on 3.
its a 1.2 carb on a F plate wiht no mods but has had the head skimed due to new head gasket
any ideas on what it could be ?
cheers for reading, nam03

don't start it unless your going to drive it... you do more damage than good

sounds like head gasket (again), water in the cylinder.
Might be ignition though.
there is not sign of the head gasket going agen (apaert from the runin porbs) there is no white stuff under the filler car or on the dip stick.
any other ideas

It will get choked up if you keep starting it and don't give it a proper drive.
I had my Nova stood for 2 Years :o Took a while to start, got going in the end but was running rough when, as was expected.
Drive the car mate, allow it to warm up properly first, then take it for a blast, helps clear the jet/s in the carb, etc. then drive easy for a short while, then park it.
Do not thrash it then park up immediately !
