Check it out,
i have just found the Max Power Nova manual's project car for sale on Ebay. I have always wondered who had the car after they modified it.

Jim

Nope... ?3,000 starting bid, reserve not met i.e. the reserve is OVER ?3k!!

For a 1.2 Nova!! That's crazy!! For that kind of money you could pick up a valver! Or get a cheap 1.2 and do it yourself!!

Seller also lists "Headlight brows"... i can't see any...

Can never quite get my head round the way people take so much notice of what engine a nova has, its only a pretty simple task to throw a valver in, so if you like this car then just budget 500 quid on top of the price for an XE.

Personally i dont like it at all, novas should be done the way the lads on roybacer like them, ie no kits etc:

+ Driveshafts + strengthening + fitting engine + fitting ancilliaries (fuel tank, gearbox, loom etc) (+ insurance lol) so it may well end up a bit more than ?500... depends what price u get the engine at and how much of the work u can do yourself (or mates rates)

Ahhh, you picked a fine example Mr. Chip. Jays car is very nice, but we have a number of non kitted cars ourselves. You only have to look through the members cars to see example after example of subtley styled novas :)

engine 300 quid (including doing a new cambelt etc)
drive shafts = gte ones plus cav mk2 inners 50 quid
loom comes with engine
if its a 1.2i it has an appropriate tank, so you just need a bigger fuel line and the pump off the astra that should come with it
that leaves enough money to buy a welder

cool, glad to see you arent all into that sort of tack.
still it would be a boring world if we were all the same, so a bit of variety is cool, just its not to my personal taste.

didn't know you could get a 1.2 with 5 gears, doubt it would sell for that much saying that everyone knows it got bought for ?200 unless you really like nova's, max power or haynes or can't mod a car

for a 6K nova I would expect at least a twin V6 turbocharged engine, let alone a non turbo'd valver!!!!!

I gotta agree with you mate... maybe not the whole roybacer thing, but i prefer subtle nova's.... especially if they look as tidy as that one!

All 1.2s should have gained a 5speed box after 1989.

no they didn't... 5 speed was an optional extra i believe

?500 is more than realistic for an xe nova project.
ive spent ?400 and have all i need so my whole project including the the nova is gonna cost ?600
thats ?4 per BHP! bargain!!

At least with the money he's saved he can afford a decent funeral

giving the benefit of the doubt tho, he might have picked up some cheap or free astra brakes and otehr bits

So it must have come as an extra, as some people both have 1.2i's but one with a 4speed and the other with 5.

cooper_nova
15-04-04, 08:58 PM
yeah i'd say it woz an optional extra
