here's a hot tip.

Make sure you've got a mate who's owned loads of vauxhalls and has all the tools you could possibly need :)

Engine Rebuild Labour Cost:
1 Super Size Meal from Maccy's

I do mess around with little bits myslef but owt major i leave to my mate or pro's.

i hate garages that rip you off. good thing bout novas is that thery are very practical and straight forward to fix. i try fixing my girlfriends golf i end up kicking the crap out of it.
Only time i ever use a garage is for MOT's.

True, True...

you've gotta do it all urself.
nothin like gettin ur mates round with a big bar and a few chains to lift the engine out of the car.
anyway half the time who knows what the garage actually did?

lol @13SRBOY I always do this,so far I think the only things I aint tackled myself on the car is engine transplant(but couldnt afford insurance, however a 1.3 injoon might be on the cards...) and welding, simply because I aint brave enough to cut a chunk off the car and try to put a better bit back. My mate Morris is training at Lincoln F**d and is apparently almost a full fledged mechanic,so why dont he do the bearings, brakes, etc himself?-the only daring thing he did was fitted a vinyl graphic...

I've done everything my self....lowering, engine swap, sunroof (that was fun!), zorst, welding on new rear arch panel, electrics (windows, LCD, Horns, extra lights stereo etc), brakes, body kit, paint, carb re-con..etc etc.
Only thing I've not done my self was Crypton tune, and carb set-up..oh, and MOT obviously.
It's fun, and you feel so much better when you look at your car and drive it, knowing that you've done it all yourself :)

Funny how garages always find probs that cost a bomb to fix 1/2 way through doing a simply job!

Hello, is my car ready.
No sorry, we came acros a few problems, we have welded that little patch under ur drivers seat, but we found a pakkie in ur exhaust, do u want us to remove him? As u'v had the welding done here we can do it for ?200 if u pay cash!

Fckin robbing bastards.

So it is only welding i get done at garages now, and i make sure they take a good look b4 they start. Ill be gettin a nice welder from work soon, so b doin that myself aswell!

Sorry to pu ta pisser on things but....

having the mechanical aptitude of a slug, i unfortuantely, leave most of the stiff to a mechanic. The guy i use is an ex vauxhall head mechanic who used to do a lot with Nova Sports :)

He knows his stuff and doesnt rip you off neither! anyone who wants his number in teh northwest gimme a shout in the chat room and i will sort u out!
