Just need some quick info.

Got a MKI Nova and have been noticing a lot of raod noise, echos when shutting doors and engine noise around the cabin.

I would like to make the car a bit more sound proofed so that I get less of these noises. And I suppose this would make my sound system sound alot better once this is done.

Just need to know what I can do to reduce noice levels inside the cabin?i.e what materials and where?

Do I just stuff padding inside the hollow doors and under the carpet? or is it more complex?

Thanx

*if you wondering where you seen this post before its in technical forum*

that dynamat stuff is expensive u can get basically the same stuff from b n q or wickes its roof insulation or sumet. its a lot cheaper. 1 roll of dynamat = 20 quid, 1 roll of roof insulation mat = 9 quid

carpet underlay would be even cheaper and it will work just as good!!

be careful where you put it though, in behind the dash and around wires/heater vents could be a fire hazard

Thanx for the tips lads,

anyone actually use underlay for deadening?

How effective is it?

PMSL... No it wont work just as good as Dynamat. The way Dynamat works is by adding mass to the offending panel, which dampens the vibrations.

Dynamat Xtreme is expensive, but is arguably the best stuff out there. You will only require one layer in most areas.

A cheaper idea is flashing tape, which is what novaexplode is on about. Morley tape is a good one which works well. Its alot cheaper than Dynamat or BrownBread, but needs more layers to get the same effect.
