blocks are different!.....

will get a pic later

will have to drill and tap a new hole for the starter if i wanna use a small flywheel

jus get an f13 easier than tapping a hole, the block is the same, unless its a old cav big block.. ile swap u 1 for that c16se head...

1600 has bigger flywheel and bigger clutch

especially if your turboing it i wouldnt reccomment using the smaller fly and clutch for power reasons

im sure novaneil was having problems with his 1600 clutch and turbo'd 1600 so i could imagine it would be even worse with a 1400 clutch

clutch is same size... flywheel has a 1.5" thick rim round it

according to my haynes manual the normal engines have a 190mm friction plate and the 1600 has a 200mm friction plate...

u can still use a 1.4 clutch tho thats what im running as a broke the 1.6 one... it just uses less of the friction area on the flywheel... sell me ur head

right... did some checking

the clutch and coverplate are bigger but will still fit to the 1.4 flywheel

an ideal upgrade for peeps with 1.2/3/4

You really confuse me Ste. I was always under the impression that you knew everything about Nova's, so much so, I thought you were a proper nerd/geek. Yet you ask questions like this that I thought you would know off the top of your head?

I bolted my 1.6 clutch & plate to my 1.4 flywheel. blocks are different i have 1.2 1.4 & 1.6 blocks. The 1.4 & 1.6 are same blocks on the outside just bored out more for the 1.6 pistons. The 1.2 blocks casting for the starter is more flush so it can turn the flywheel where as the 1.4 & 1.6 s-motor is mounted out more for the bigger flywheel. You cannot use a 1.2 flywheel on a 1.6 its not possible

i've never messed with the 1.6 engine

1.3/4 and big blocks i have no problem

i'm gonna use the 1.2 fly with the 1.6 clutch and plate and mod the block

Just get the 1.6 flywheel lightened as its a lot of work for not alot

err... no, this is a no ?? project, i can cut/weld/drill the block for ?0... lightining costs ??

Good stuff Ste, been tempted to do it myself before. How much lighter is the small flywheel?

On a relatively low bhp high torque 1.6, lightening the flywheel is good, but once you start going for peaky power, it can be beneficial to keep the weight. The rotating mass can prevent a bog down on a standing start. For track racing, it is always beneficial to lighten the flywheel.

i'll put them on the digi scales at home tonight

It'll only cost about 30 pounds to lighten. How are you going to do it, you might go through the water ways as its a fatter block than lower engines.

I'd say both together the smaller fly is half the weight of the 1.6

What happened how much did it weigh?

Ste_Nova

Just do it Think of the lightness
