here's a few tips so that u get the Most power out of your conversoins.
Keep your 1.2 carb head and put it on the 1.4sr block. Get a 1.2 carb head gasket instead of the 1.4 sr to use. Keep the cam shaft out of the 1400 sr though.
Check that the top pulley on both the heads has the same type of teeth.
I overlooked this. On the 1400 block see that the water pump has squared off teeth. the 1200 block (and head) is likely to have rounded off teeth.
So swap the rounded pulley on ur 1.2 head to the squared off one. U will also need a cam belt which has the squared off teeth (if u get what i mean). Just get a cambelt for a 1400sr.
When swapping the heads u will need to find an twin choke (2e3) inlet manifold from a 1.3sr. U can get these from scrappy for ?10.
(U can run the 1400 with the single choke carb from the 1.2 for now, it won't hurt, just have less power)
getting an exhaust from a 1.3 or 1.4 sr is also well worth it (4-2-1 manifold and downpipe)
With those modds u will see around 75-79bhp as apposed to 71 standard.

I've never played with the 1.4 but a mate of mine wants to put one in his 1.2 and asked me to do it. what rpm are we looking at for the 75-79bhp and whats the peak torque with these mods, again at what rpm? anyone with a rolling road printout for the above on their engine?

dunno... but mine has now got enough power to pull in 5th on the wr box... which makes for silly top end and 120mph crusing!
