clutch has the munchies

my clutch biting point is quite high is there any way that i can lower it my self or am i going to need to take it to a garage?

im not too sure if much can be done.. but i'd certain have a play with the cable under the bonnet. how near the end of the cable is the plastic lug with holds it in place on top of the gbox? just try winding it out towards the end of the cable to see if makes a difference, or the opposite, (im not sure which way round it works!)
