Ok i see lots of folk asking the same questions so ill write this guide based on what i did:

What u need:

Corsa/Cav SPi top box (u can see it in the picture below) - ?5 (scrappy)
Universal cone filter - ?25 (halfords)
125 degree 68mm rain gutter bend - ?2.50 (homebase)
length of 68mm rain gutter - ?5 (homebase)
piece of rubber hose about 66-68mm ID - ?1 (scrappy off an escort 1.6 efi)

ok i started by purchasing the 125 degree bend and i hunted down a piece of hose from the scrappy that would fit that and the spi top box - i finally found a bit from an escort 1.6 efi that fitted with a bit of percerverance
i then returned to homebase and got the length of gutter (might wanna take somthing with u to cut it as they wont cut it instore and it wont fit inside a nova :P (i ended up smashing hell outta the middle of it with my wheel spider to break it into 2 halfs)
the spi box has a silly valve contraption on the back - remove this by breaking off the metal clip and removing the valve from inside - the 2 holes will need filled now (i glued some drawing pins over the holes from the outside to seal it)
i then cut a length about 12" long out of the guttering and got the correct adaptor ring from the universal filter kit (70mm one) - i had to use some tape to pack up the 2mm difference as the jubliee clip didnt like clamping down the slack
attached the gutter to the filter and then fitted the filter to the 125degree bend
you will also need to extend your breather hose to fit on the outlet on the airbox

fitted the whole lot to the car and bingo :)

a nice induction kit for a whole ?38.50

*img* image is down just now i'll get a new one uploaded soon */img*

enjoy

the same will work for 1.3/1.4 owners with a 2e3 and a cav 1.4 carb topbox

Not that we'd want a crappy restrictive induction kit like that when we can run a nice huge B**tard right on top of the carb. In fact you could prob get one to fit on top of the Spi equivalent of the carb.

Looks pretty good though considering how it was made!

but don't use Gerberit Terrain guttering, it isn't the best quality. Osma, Hunter and Marshall Tuflex are all good

i dont intend to use any piping at all, just whack the cone onto the airbox!

although the cone may touch the bonnet or turret!

i no you can just get a bolt-on k&n filter for a carb 1.2 but would this just go on with on alterations(spelling)? if not what would be needed to make it go on?

green do an "induction kit" for a 1.2spi. It simply bolts on the top just like the carb bolt ons

Ste reckons it can but supposedly carbs don't like induction kits. Injections don't really either if Total Vauxhall are right.
Why anyone wants their motor to sound like an aboriginee's farting down his Didgeridoo in ya engine bay I don't know.
I'll keep with me nice slurping K&N bolt-on thanx

Ya home made kit looks good tho!!

no reason why not. just have to hunt down a box like the one on the carb that will fit
