View Full Version : Probs with Head Unit
This shouldnt be in ICE before its moved, because its just related to my music system... or should it be?
I cannot have my CD player on whilst im driving because all it does is skip. I have got good shox, put them on today, i know i need new engine mounts. Any ideas wot the problem is.
Loose dash maybe?
Help, please because its really annoying!
Cheers Paul
try and use the screw at the back of the head unit or wedge it in tight to the cage.

what type of headunit is it? does it have anti-shock??? if it is skipping all the time it may be that the anti-shock mechanism is damaged.
its an alpine one
could be, is that expensive to fix?

I couldn't say to be honest. it may be worth trying a cleaning CD in it first. might just be a little bit of dirt in there or something.
already tried that. it used to work when it was on the seat out of its cage. never worked in the dash...
mit have to try a mates HU
mk 1 or 2 dash?
i hade a cd player in my mk2 dash a while back and it only skipped rarely.
the angle that it sits at in a mk2 could lead to it skipping more, esp if the car is lowered etc blah blah
umm to sort this, get the headunit checked out (can do it yourself if youve bot the nouse) to make sure its not fubar though
Make sure the cage that hold the stereo inplace is fixed in in the dash nice and tight, bend as many tabs over as needed to stop it moving about.

i think;
* din sized gap in dash cud be stretched/tattered slightly..
* haven't fitted cage/unit properly..
* if its a high spec alpine unit they tend to weigh loads me than lesser units; like many have sed buy head unit bracket to hold back of unit rigid..
* faulty unit, even though it worked on the seat.. nothing to do with angle of mk2 dash; not unless its was goodmans or something...
* condition of c.d's..
can't think of anymore.
