just fitted some nice speakers just wondering if its best to leave the grate off the top of them?

no leave it on else u will damage the speaker makes no difference if its on or not. ive had to cover my speakers up with a villa flag and u carnt really see them

What i would do is cover them if they are in a kickable place, i.e. door pods.
But in the shelf most people leave them uncovered.
But if you carry people in the back seats i would cover them, because it seems to me that as soon as people see a speaker they always have to touch the center cone and push it in. don't know why,

thats why i would have the covers on if people travel in the back.

^^ i agree, but if they're on the parcel shelf you might want to consider making ur own "stealth shelf".... protects the speaker AND hides them from view of theiving oiks.
