X-regd Nova

I saw an old X reg nova yesterday. I thought the first they did was Y but obviously not. Was a white one in quite good condition. some studenty girl drivin it. Would have made a good valver :lol: 22yrs old and still goin strong!!

Tis true. I had "RFX 312W" and "RJM 25R"

The "RFX" had the "f" cut to look like an "i" (so it said RIX) and i used to get pulled regularly by the police, eg "Hello sonny (even though I was older than him) I didn't know they made Nova's in 1980"

I'm lost - If it's a personal plate then it can't make the car look any newer than it really is............so how have you managed to get a S plate onto a Nova?

You won't always get a Q plate for stolen recovered - my Nova was brand new out of the garage as J2 JGR, it's now J234ENW. Sometimes you can get a new reg number with the right letter on it.

You can only use plates older than the car, so in other words you can't have a registration that would appear to make the car newer than its original registration. Pre-84 plates (i.e. before A reg), when the numberplates were xxx ###x, one starting with an S would be viable.

Could also be pre-68 (???) before they had year-plates, eg in Olham there's a merc with S 300 and that's it. cool car, cool plate

Starts with an S, in the same way my dad's 1974 dolomite starts with a V... VYC ###M

(edit) this page helps explain it... http://www.ime.org.uk/ime/r/regplates.html lists the year of regitration and appropriate prefix/postfix reg letter.

Then it's not a S plate - it's a M plate.
