If that goes wrong in any way shape or form and you're expecting Medion to sort it out - good luck.

My Medion has been back to them twice now under the warrenty (Once It took them nearly 2 months to return it to me after loads of BS and broken deadlines on the phone to me - the problem was that the HDD had gone, they ending up replacing it all apart from the Case / PSU, MoBo and DVD RW) - It's still under warranty but when the MoBo had problems last year I replaced it myself using my own money rather than let them do it for free under warrenty.

I'd never buy one of their PC's again.

The medion pc's are mint, they are great value for money, but like will said half that stuff you don't need.

But as jules said, if ought goes wrong Medion are shite for technical problems, they know nothing.

Just pray it stays working,LOL
even though the sales team are crap the PCs are really great machines.

I never thought I would buy a ready made PC, but I got one of the Medion ones just before Christmas and it is great. Not had a single problem with it(apart from having to change from XP home to XP pro, but that's hardly a problem) I bought it mainly cos I couldn't be arsed building another one.

It has the TV recording facility in it, so I can now pause live TV etc and use it as a TIVO style recorder. The DVD writer does the job fine and I have been playing Battlefield Vietnam in 1280*1024 with virtually no slowing down or jerkyness(apart from when you get about 40 CPU players on screen at once!!!!)

there is another Tiny.com pc available at the moment for ?699.98 with an Athlon 64 chip, has anyone used one of these chips yet? how do they compare to the P4's? Are they any good?

i could build you a faster AMD system for about ?500. (with a legit copy of XP of course). I'd go as far to say that building computers are easier than cars.

building computers is a piece of piss, you barely have to do anything other than plug bits together!!

Looks like a good computer. yes building computers is piss easy; as a techy like us boys I don't think Ste would have too much trouble sorting one  Sometimes it's just easier to fuck it and buy one lol

it's been funded by my 16v fitting over the last few months so i've not had to spend for it... yes i could have built one for less with less features but you only get 1 year warr on components and i've assessed loads of pcs for work and we ended up buying hp/compaq stuff cause i couldn;t build for the price we get them at... and i wanted a full featured home pc for connection to 24/7 bb etc

card reader = yup need it for my digi cam cards
wireless = yup need it for my home lan
tv out = yup i now have a screen at each end of my room
twin head card = yup now i can have 2 screens (3 in total if you inc tv)
dvd/dvd rw = dunno don't own any dvds
built in dolby 7.1 = yup will link in nicely via spdif with my dolby amp

and yes john i need to upgrade it to xp pro aswell

i've still got my old one aswell (dell smart pc 250n p4 2.4 laptop) the new one will work along side it and reduce wear and tear on the laptop (hinges are getting loose and keyboard is wearing out) it gets 9-5 use at work and 4+ hours at night

p.s. anyone gonna price the components in the medion?

i just built my firs pc last week, didn't have a clue where to start so did it anyway,
athlon 64 3200 cpu
gigabyte motherboard with all the toys.
geforce 5900 ultra graphics
1024mb kingston ram
120gb western digital s-ata hard drive
8x dvd burner
windows xp pro
17" iiyama prolite e431s moniter

the screen was 300 and i got the rest for 800. and it all worked when i tried to start it. unlike my car.

Done well to get all the bits for ?800 - The AMD Athlon 64 bit 3200 CPU's weight in at about ?200 each, 1GB of RAM is about ?120 minimum and the GeForce 5900's are a couple of hundred (Almost up to ?550 so far!!).
Then add on the MoBo, Case / PSU, DVD/RW, 120GB HDD and Win XP Pro (You actually bought that, or was it installed?) and I'd say you got a good deal.

Where did it come from? I'm looking at maybe building a 2nd PC soon.

benji
03-04-04, 10:57 PM
processor and motherboard was about ?300
graphics card was ?170
hard drive was ?80
ram was ?120
psu and case were ?40
dvd burner was ?100

total ?810

windows xp pro i got from work. all the bits were from a stall at a pc show. but they would of been cheaper off the internet. try www.dabs.com

it got a score of 17500 on pcmark 2001se which is not bad for ?800

3d mark 2k1 u mean.

What CPU and cga card u get?

Thats normally the most expensive items.

benji
04-04-04, 01:47 PM
yeah, 3d mark. the processor is a ?200 athlon 64 3200+ and the graphics card ia a ?170 gainward 5900 ultra gold sample.
